Índico: Winner at the Spanish Fashion Awards

"To wear dreams on your feet is to start making dreams come true". With this phrase by Roger Vivier a dream began, that of SUMA CRUZ as the winner of the 1st Edition of the Spanish Fashion Academy Awards for the Índico collection. Held at the majestic Teatro Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa in Madrid, this award highlights the best of talent and creativity in the field of national fashion.

Inspiration and Narrative of the Índico Collection

The Índico collection by SUMA CRUZ is inspired by the stories and mysteries of the 18th century Indian Ocean, evoking adventures between Madagascar and Sri Lanka. Pirate life, marine nature and the jewels of the sea become protagonists, creating a universe of fantasy that translates into each piece of this designer jewellery.

Innovation and Creativity in contemporary jewellery

Each piece of jewellery in the Índico collection captures the essence of the sea with fluid, organic shapes. These pieces emulate the movement of water and waves, integrating natural elements and figures of sea creatures. A unique combination of innovative design and boundless creativity.

SUMA CRUZ handcrafted manufacturing process

The meticulous craftsmanship of the Índico collection combines artisanal jewellery techniques with modern innovations, guaranteeing perfection in every detail. We show you some of the techniques and materials used:

Techniques used:
  • Forging and shaping: Traditional methods of shaping metals.

  • Finishes: Application of patinas and two-colour baths to add depth and contrast.

  • Manual assembly: Chain cut millimetre by millimetre and hand-woven elements for maximum brilliance and movement.

Selected materials:
  • Metals: Brass with different gold plating, two-colour plating and silver plating.

  • Minerals: Labradorite, unakite, rhodonite, aventurine, tiger's eye, ox eye, Amazonian granite, moss agate and landscape jasper.

  • Organic elements: Mother-of-pearl and pearls selected for their beauty and connection to the marine theme.

The Campaign: Artistic Collaboration and Visual Style

To bring the Índico collection to life, we collaborated with renowned Spanish photographer and filmmaker Eugenio Recuenco. His detailed and dreamlike style has captured the essence of the collection in photographs that look like they came straight out of a painting. The campaign transports us to fantasy worlds and fairy tales, bringing to life the stories of pirates and mysterious seas.

The Índico collection by SUMA CRUZ is a testament to the perfect fusion of artisanal tradition and innovation in jewellery design. Each piece, meticulously created by hand, captures the essence of stories and the beauty of the sea, becoming a unique and special jewel. This recognition at the Spanish Fashion Academy Awards underlines the talent and dedication of SUMA CRUZ in the world of fine jewellery.
